Tips on Buying Your Next Car

Tips on Buying Your Next Car

When shopping for a car, new or used, start by asking yourself a few questions:

• How many miles will you be putting on the car weekly?

• What are the mpg ratings for the cars you are considering?

• How will the car primarily be used—taking kids to soccer, commuting to work?

• What features do you need/want (air conditioning, CD player, anti-lock brakes)?

• How large of a car loan can you afford?

• How much of a monthly payment can you handle?

• How much do you have for a down payment (cash or trade-in)?

Check the online car sites to find out the current pricing, safety records and other information on the makes and models you are interested in buying.

Get your financing first

Getting your auto loan first lets you know how much money you have to work with and sets a realistic focus on the car buying process. Another benefit of having financing in hand before visiting the dealership is that it will keep you out of their high-pressure finance departments.

The Annual Percentage Rate (APR) you will be charged on

your car loan will depend on your credit history and FICO score. Other variables include current interest rates, market conditions and any special financial promotions being offered by dealers or manufacturers on the car you are buying.

The difference between the interest rate on a new car loan and a used car loan doesn't vary that much because used vehicles don't depreciate as quickly as newer models. This makes them better short-term collateral for the lender.

A good place to get a free car loan quote is Fast Car Finance. Their no-obligation online application will let you now how much you are qualified to borrow.

If you are buying new

Buying new gives you a new-car warranty that lasts for years. It also gives you more control over optional features, and, if you buy the right vehicle, it will have greater resale value down the road.

Shop around to get the best possible price by comparing models and prices in ads and at dealer showrooms. You also may want to contact car-buying services and broker-buying services to make comparisons. Consider ordering your new car if you do not see what you want on the lot.

Negotiate on price. Dealers may be willing to bargain on their profit margin, often between 10 and 20 percent. Usually, this is the difference between the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) and the invoice price.

If you are buying used

A good used car should last longer than your loan. According to The U.S. Department of Transportation, the average life span of a vehicle is 13 years, with final mileage around 145,000.

If you're shopping for a used car at a dealership, ask for a conditioning report in addition to having your own mechanic check it out. You can also order the vehicle's history report from an online service like CarFax or AutoCheck.

If you are buying from a private party, you will want to ask:

• How long have you owned the vehicle?

• Has the vehicle been in an accident or repainted?

• When are the next state inspection and emissions tests due?

• How often has the oil and filter been changed?

• Why are you selling the vehicle?

Nothing You Accomplish In Your Life Is Important Unless You Know God

Nothing You Accomplish In Your Life Is Important Unless You Know God

Did you know that anything you accomplish in your life is meaningless unless you give yourself to God? Did you know that only God can give you the strength to reach your dreams? Did you know that if you achieve something without gods help that it is not real? Did you know that only those things you do that are Gods will are important?

Did you know that god is all knowing and knows what is best for each one of us? Did you know that God has a plan for us and that we must give our lives

to God in order to have meaning? Did you that those who do not know god have no moral grounding? Did you know that the Bible is truth and only thru reading it can we even begin to understand God? Did you know that the human brain can never comprehend infinity or all that God knows?

You see, nothing you accomplish in your life is important unless you know God! It does not matter unless you believe in God and have given yourself to god and live your life for God. God is great and we must always serve his will and do everything for God first and foremost. Did you know that if you are good and do Gods work you will go to heaven and spend an eternity of bliss and be one with God? Did you ever stop to think who makes this stuff up?

Expense Reports

Expense Reports

An expense report is the statement covering all the expenses of official or personal travel of an employee that is to be submitted to the employer for the purpose of reimbursement. Expense reports also serve the purpose of personal record of the expenses or for accounting and tax payment preparation. The expenses generally include air/train fare, hotel accommodations, food expenditures and other travel-related expenses. Often, the employees take too much time for the submission of expense report, but the process should be quick. The process of expense reporting can be made simple and quick only through automation with web-based expense report management software like Expense Management Automation (EMA) and Ceridian Expense Manager.

With these programs, the employee submits the report online to the approval authority and faxes the receipts. Almost all the companies are following this method of automati

on so that employees can avoid the errors involved in manual entry and submission of reports. The fast submission of expense report leads to quick reimbursement, which in turn provides visibility and control for the compliance of the standards of audit and accounting. As it shortens the reimbursement cycle, employees' motivation and thereby operational efficiency increases.

Every organization should have a standard format of employee expense report form that should be easy for employees to use. However, as per a survey conducted by one popular Boston-based research organization, for every five dollars a company spends, one dollar is spent towards employee travel expenses. So the employee travel reimbursement expenditure occupies a vital role in the total expenses after salaries. Thus, most of the companies are taking a hard look at employee travel expenses. They have begun to implement expense report management software for reducing and analyzing travel expenses so that they can make Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with airline companies, hotels, etc. for availing them of discount prices.

Companies should insist on timely, accurate and honest expense reports. Every employee has to follow all the rules and regulations of the travel expense reimbursement policy of the organization, while furnishing all the expense details of his travel along with documentation. After submission of the report, the employee has to obtain approval from the concerned Approval Department of the company. Then only the Finance Department grants funds for reimbursement. Also, it is the ethical responsibility of the employee to return the excess amount he has received to his employer.

Knowing More About Cord Blood Banking

Knowing More About Cord Blood Banking

When a mother is still pregnant with her child, the umbilical cord is actually considered as the lifeline between the mother and the baby. Once the umbilical cord has been discarded after the baby's birth, then you will lose the chance of being able to obtain precious cells that the cord contains which are an exact match with your baby and that you can have preserved. By preserving your baby's stem cells through cord blood banking, your baby will be ensured to have a guaranteed source for perfectly matched cells that can help your child during unfortunate events (like a life threatening illness). These cells would actually come in handy when it comes to combating this disease. All you have to do is just have it set up during the time of your delivery.

But what exactly are diseases that the cord blood banking will help you save your child from? Stem cells that are preserved due to the cord blood banking can actually help a child be cured of the following life-threatening illnesses: leukemia, lymphoma, breast cancer, Hodgkin's disease, aplastic anemia, various other cancers, sickle cell anemia, blood diseases, hereditary/genetic conditions and various immune system disorders. There are actually an approximate of 14 million new cancer cases that are being recoded

every year. Single cell transplants that can be brought about by cord blood banking can also be used for the treatment of ling cancer, AIDS, lupus, multiple sclerosis as well as many other genetic diseases.

You may also be wondering if cord blood banking can actually be beneficial to all of your kids because you may have only one child undergo the cord blood banking process. Well in cord blood banking, your baby will be well ensured that the stem cells will be a perfect match for him or her as well as in the case of having an identical twin.

However, if another child who has not gone through the cord blood banking process is actually needing some stem cells to help fight off a life-threatening disease, it is highly important to note that they can also be used for a sibling since it will possibly a close match for them. But there is the 1:4 chances for the cord blood banking to be proven as beneficial for the other child. Relatives or other close friends who haven't gone through cord blood banking may also benefit from the stem cells that can be derived from cord blood banking if and only if they will pose a close match with the cord blood banking donor's stem cells.

But how does one actually collect stem cells for cord blood banking? Well, the collection process for cord blood banking will actually take place right after the delivery of a baby wherein the cord has already been separated from the newborn infant. This is in no way will be able to interfere with the birth of the baby. The attending physician or nurse or even midwife will be the one to collect the cord blood for the cord blood banking by utilizing it in a sterile kit which will be provided by the Cord Partners Blood Center. The collected cord blood will then be sealed in a specially designed package for cord blood banking and will then be delivered to the cord blood banking laboratory for the testing as well as the processing. In the end, the sample will be cryogenically stored for the cord blood banking until it is needed by the owner.

Another concern by mothers when it comes to cord blood banking is how safe will cord blood banking be for the baby as well as for the mother; if there will be any pain or discomfort involved in the whole cord blood banking process. When it comes to cord blood banking, the first priority will always be the well being of the baby.

The stem cell extraction for the cold banking process will actually be very safe both for the baby as well as for the baby's mother because the blood for cord blood banking will be collected right after the umbilical cord has already been separated from the baby. Afterwards, blood will also be extracted from the mother for the cord blood banking process. The baby, as well as the mother will not really experience any pain or discomfort when it comes to cord blood banking.

Flu Season

Flu Season

Well, it’s that time of the year again! Just last week alone four of my clients were out sick with the flu, and at least another four friends suffered the same fate. Unfortunately, flu season isn’t over yet, and that means you stand a good chance of being exposed to the virus at some point.

While a lot of people will go to the gym no matter how sick they feel rather than miss a single workout, this is not recommended. However, it is recommended that you maintain your health throughout the entire year with a regular and consistent fitness regime in order to decrease your chances of getting sick in the first place. However, if you do find yourself feeling ill, it is often best to skip your workout, at least for that day. For starters, you are preventing the spread of the illness to others, but possibly even more importantly, you are not wearing your body down to a point that lowers your resistance further yet, resulting in a weakened immune system.

One basic yet effective method of preventing the onset of sickness after exposure is to simply wash your hands, thoroughly and often. It is amazing how many germs we come in contact with on a daily basis through common items that we touch, and hand washing, especially before eating or touching your face, can greatly r

educe your chance of infection.

Another very important factor-getting adequate sleep-will help to keep your immune system at it’s strongest. Without the proper amount of rest your body is more susceptible to illnesses because it doesn’t have the strength to fight them off. The average person should be getting 6-8 hours of sleep per night, and more if you’re already sick. Sleep is something you can’t make up if you miss, either. In other words, sleeping 3 hours one night and 9 the next isn’t the same as sleeping 6 hours each night.

In addition to sleep, proper nutrition intake (including the right amount of vitamins and minerals to keep your body strong) is of the ultimate importance. During flu season I always increase my vitamin C intake to boost my immunity levels. Since vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin, any excess will simply be passed out of your body through urine, and therefore is not a danger, such as an excess of an oil soluble vitamin like A or E.

Ideally, you should maintain as healthy a state of fitness throughout the year as possible in order to keep your immune system healthy and able to fight off most anything that comes its way. If you’re exercising on a regular basis, eating healthy foods stock full of vitamins and minerals, giving your body enough rest, not over-indulging in alcohol, and moderating your body’s stress levels, then you are maintaining a healthy state of living and taking the proper steps to keep your body happy and healthy.

Other health related programs should be considered in order to optimize your health and keep your body at it’s best. These health programs are what I refer to as “maintenance programs”, and entail chiropractic adjustments, message therapy, regular dental visits, yearly physician check-ups, as well as other preventative measures that you deem fitting, like acupuncture or acupressure and reflexology.

Hopefully this issue gave you some tips that may help to keep you in good health this flu season. The key points are summarized below for your convenience.

* Exercise regularly and consistently

* Wash your hands often

* Get adequate sleep

* Eat healthy foods

* Don’t overindulge in alcohol consumption

* Monitor your body’s stress levels

* Practice maintenance programs for optimum health

Have a great week and stay healthy!

A Christian Hindu

A Christian Hindu

He wears that long, white/cream, translucent silk garment that many know as a dhoti. He walks barefoot and visits any temple he can find. Sometimes, in traditional temples, they stop him with a stern, “this is a Hindu temple - for Hindus only” because his skin is white, with a ruddishness that waxes and wanes like the moon. He fobs them off with a “I am a Hindu” in chaste Tamil. They (the so-called sentinels) don’t know what to say and let him pass. Inside, he clasps his hands, bows, prays and does what every devout Hindu does.

He looks like a 'foreigner’. He is, in the conventional sense. But, isn’t everyone? I don’t know of a single human being who was borne by mother earth. All were borne by mother human females. Everyone or at least everyone’s ancestors, at some point of time, were 'foreigners’ somewhere. So, that’s no big deal!

Is he a Hindu? Yes, but he wasn’t born one. What then is a Hindu? One who visits a temple? One who wears a 'tilak’? Or one who believes he is a Hindu?

He must be an ISCKON’ite one might

think. He isn’t. But then, who knows, maybe, he is!

He has an altar at home. He lights incense and he prays there, too. He wears a ring, an astrologer advised him to wear. He enters a house (his new home, that is) after performing a vastu puja on a day chosen by a priest. He arranges his furniture and other home paraphernalia in keeping with the dictates of Vaastu. A picture of Ganesha wallpapers his desktop.

He is an American. A Catholic and hold your breath for you’re not going to believe this…a priest, too. Yes, a Catholic priest…

Think about it…this is what a thinking person ought to be…one who is able to draw whatever he finds useful, in any way, from any religion…its philosophy, its beliefs, its rituals, its 'superstitions’, too, if you have such a word in your lexicon!

He drinks his beer, smokes his cigarettes and all in moderation….and he can talk about different religions of the world, both past and present…he speaks half a dozen international languages with relative fluency…including the ancient Latin…he can discuss about a range of subjects and with impressive erudition…and accept criticism about the religion that gave him priesthood…but not without reason! He is a patriot but will criticize his country and the follies of its leaders with a sardonic smile…

He thinks therefore he is! He agrees, though, that a tree may not think (but then, who can tell for certain), but it still is…

He thinks and explores…therefore, to me, he is a Hindu…

I wonder if I will ever be a Christian Hindu or a Hindu Muslim Christian…I wonder how beautiful the world will be when there are more Hindu Christians, Muslim Christians, Muslim Hindus, Christian Muslims, Jewish Hindus, Zoroastrian Buddhists, Buddhist Hindu Muslims, Buddhist Jain Muslims….

Gender and the Narcissist

Gender and the Narcissist

In the manifestation of their narcissism, female and male narcissists, inevitably, do tend to differ. They emphasise different things. They transform different elements of their personality and of their life into the cornerstones of their disorder.

Women concentrate on their body (as they do in eating disorders: Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa). They flaunt and exploit their physical charms, their sexuality, their socially and culturally determined “femininity”. They secure their Narcissistic Supply through their more traditional gender role: the home, children, suitable careers, their husbands (”the wife of…”), their feminine traits, their role in society, etc.

It is no wonder than narcissists – both men and women – are chauvinistic and conservative. They depend to such an extent on the opinions of people around them – that, with time, they are transformed into ultra-sensitive seismographs of public opinion, barometers of prevailing winds and guardians of conformity. Narcissists cannot afford to seriously alienate those who reflect to them their False Self. The very proper and on-going functioning of their Ego depends on the goodwill and the collaboration of their human environment.

True, besieged and consumed by pernicious guilt feelings – many a narcissist finally seek to be punished. The self-destructive narcissist then plays the role of the “bad guy” (or “bad girl”). But even then it is within the traditional socially allocated roles. To ensure social opprobrium (read: attention), the narcissist exaggerates these roles to a caricature. A woman is likely to self-label herself a “whore” and a male narcissist to self-style himself a “vicious, unrepentant criminal”. Yet, these again are traditional social roles. Men are likely to emphasise intellect, power, aggression, money, or social status. Women are likely to emphasise body, looks, charm, sexuality, feminine “traits”, homemaking, children and childrearing – even as they seek their masochistic punishment.

Another difference is in the way the genders react to treatment. Women are more likely to resort to therapy because they are more likely to admit to psychological problems. But while men may be less inclined to DISCLOSE or to expose their problems to others (the macho-man factor) – it does not necessarily imply that they are less prone to admit it to themselves. Women are also more likely to ask for help than men.

Yet, the prime rule of narcissism must never be forgotten: the narcissist uses everything around him or her to obtain his (or her) Narcissistic Supply. Children happen to be more available to the female narcissist due to the still prevailing prejudiced structure of our society and to the fact that women are the one

s to give birth. It is easier for a woman to think of her children as her extensions because they once indeed were her physical extensions and because her on-going interaction with them is both more intensive and more extensive.

This means that the male narcissist is more likely to regard his children as a nuisance than as a source of rewarding Narcissist Supply – especially as they grow and become autonomous. Devoid of the diversity of alternatives available to men – the narcissistic woman fights to maintain her most reliable Source of Supply: her children. Through insidious indoctrination, guilt formation, emotional sanctions, deprivation and other psychological mechanisms, she tries to induce in them a dependence, which cannot be easily unravelled.

But, there is no psychodynamic difference between children, money, or intellect, as Sources of Narcissistic Supply. So, there is no psychodynamic difference between male and female narcissist. The only difference is in their choices of Sources of Narcissistic Supply.

An interesting side issue relates to transsexuals.

Philosophically, there is little difference between a narcissist who seeks to avoid his True Self (and positively to become his False Self) – and a transsexual who seeks to not be his true gender. But this similarity, though superficially appealing, is questionable.

People sometimes seek sex reassignment because of advantages and opportunities which, they believe, are enjoyed by the other sex. This rather unrealistic (fantastic) view of the other is faintly narcissistic. It includes elements of idealised over-valuation, of self-preoccupation, and of objectification of one’s self (THAT which have all the advantages is what we want to become). It demonstrates a deficient ability to empathise and some grandiose sense of entitlement (”I deserve to have the best opportunities/advantages”) and omnipotence (”I can be whatever I want to be – despite nature/God”).

This feeling of entitlement is especially manifest in some gender dysphoric individuals who aggressively pursue hormonal or surgical treatment. They feel that it is their inalienable right to receive it on demand and without any strictures or restrictions. For instance, they oftentimes refuse to undergo psychological evaluation or treatment as a condition for the hormonal or surgical treatment.

It is interesting to note that both narcissism and gender dysphoria are early childhood phenomena. This could be explained by problematic Primary Objects, dysfunctional families, or a common genetic or biochemical problem. It is too early to say which. As yet, there isn’t even an agreed typology of gender identity disorders – let alone an in-depth comprehension of their sources.

There are mental disorders, which afflict a specific sex more often. This has to do with hormonal or other physiological dispositions, with social and cultural conditioning through the socialisation process, and with role assignment through the gender differentiation process. None of these seem to be strongly correlated to the formation of malignant narcissism. The Narcissistic Personality Disorder (as opposed, for instance, to the Borderline or the Histrionic Personality Disorders, which afflict women more than men) seems to conform to social mores and to the prevailing ethos of capitalism. Social thinkers like Lasch speculated that modern American culture – a narcissistic, self-centred one – increases the rate of incidence of the Narcissistic Personality Disorder. To this Kernberg answered, rightly:

“The most I would be willing to say is that society can make serious psychological abnormalities, which already exist in some percentage of the population, seem to be at least superficially appropriate.”

Quotes from the Literature

“Specifically, past research suggests that exploitive tendencies and open displays of feelings of entitlement will be less integral to narcissism for females than for males. For females such displays may carry a greater possibility of negative social sanctions because they would violate stereotypical gender-role expectancies for women, who are expected to engage in such positive social behavior as being tender, compassionate, warm, sympathetic, sensitive, and understanding.

In females, Exploitiveness/Entitlement is less well-integrated with the other components of narcissism as measured by the Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI) - Leadership/Authority, Self-absorption/Self-admiration, and Superiority/Arrogance- than in males - though ‘male and female narcissists in general showed striking similarities in the manner in which most of the facets of narcissism were integrated with each other’.”

Gender differences in the structure of narcissism: a multi-sample analysis of the narcissistic personality inventory - Brian T. Tschanz, Carolyn C. Morf, Charles W. Turner - Sex Roles: A Journal of Research - Issue: May, 1998
